Still in the Aloha State

Our Sunday we tried to spend relaxing. We did take a trip again on Saddle Road to the summit of Mouna Kea to the world headquarters for astronomy. The station is named after one of the astronauts lost in the 1984 Challenger explosion as he originated from Hawaii. Hundreds of countries have telescopes on the summit. The view at the summit is of Mauna Loa which has the world weather headquarters, a pretty cool place (literally at many times of the year). It was the night of the Luau so we didn't want to travel too far. Derek enjoyed the coupons we had for complimentary mai tai's from the resort. We spent some time in the pool, enjoying the slide and waterfalls (on the watercamera). The luau also gave us a fantastic opportunity to see a beach sunset. Derek got some fantastic photos and the sailboat was simply an added bonus.

The luau was great, it was a buffet with included open bar. We met some people from other states. The hula dancers were fun and the fire dancer was incredible.
